THE HILARIOUS HEADLESS HORSEMAN RIDES AGAIN!!

Center for Puppetry Arts October 29- November 7

The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Silly Hollow by the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers rides into the Center for Puppetry Arts again with their hilarious retelling of Washington Irving's Halloween tale. Don't let the name "headless horseman" scare you and your kids away, because the scariest thing in this show is hearing the words, "the end".

In this comedic adaptation, schoolteacher Ichabod Crane has just moved to town and is having problems with everything! His classroom is filled with unruly kids who leave the schoolhouse a wreck and poor Ichabod tied up every afternoon. When he finally meets the girl of his dreams, she has a big, dumb, jealous boyfriend named Brom Bones, who instantly wants to get rid of Ichabod. Then, to top it all off, he hears a tale about a crazy man on a horse that chops off the head of every schoolteacher that comes to town!

Just when he thinks things couldn't get any worse, he actually runs into the headless horseman. (Gulp!)  But, he stands his ground and soon discovers that he is headless, with no sword, and a horse named Cuddles... this pitiful horseman couldn't scare anyone. He talks Ichabod into helping him get a scarier image and after several very funny possibilities, they find a new name for the horse and the perfect scary head.

In a much better mood, Ichabod, decked out in his best suit with sequin lapels, heads to a party at the Van Tassel mansion. He and Katrina wow the crowd in a dance routine that makes "Dancing with the Stars" look like small potatoes. They boogie down to everything from disco to moon walking! The music is great including favorites such as  "Stayin' Alive", "The Time of My Life", "Dirty Dancing" and "Footloose". Trust me, it's worth the price of admission just to see this dance!

In an unexpected turn of events, it's the Headless Horseman that saves the day and becomes everyone's favorite hero!

Katie, Johnny and I saw this show the last time it came to town in 2019. Although promoted for kids 2 to 12 years old, Katie (16) and Johnny (13) said they wouldn't miss it for the world! The zany mix of traditional story lines with contemporary music and hip one-liners makes this show fun for the whole family from 2 to 99!!

A big thank you to the Center for Puppetry Arts for hosting my family. We are so excited to see it again, and this year we get to share it with Charlie (7)!

This UNIMA Citation award-winning show features 20 hand-crafted hand-and-rod puppets along with shadow puppetry to create a hilarious adaptation of an American literary classic. It was filled with fun music, quirky characters and laugh-out-loud humor for the whole family. We all loved this show and think your family will also. Don't forget to head upstairs after the show to the Create-A-Puppet Workshop to make your own Silly Cyclops Hand Puppet.

Oh, and be sure to bring an extra pumpkin... you'll need it after you laugh your head off!!
