IT'S SUMMER READING TIME THROUGH YOUR PUBLIC LIBRARY!

By Georgia Public Library June 1, 2020

This year, it’s more important than ever for kids to keep reading over the summer break. Did you know that kids who don’t practice reading during the summer can lose up to three months of reading ability?

As local public libraries continue to provide online resources, including WiFi connections, to students and their families, we’ve also adapted our plans for the Summer Reading Program.

This summer, Georgia Public Library Service is providing online access to Beanstack to all 408 public libraries in Georgia. Beanstack lets you track reading, participate in challenges, and engage with fun literacy activities.

Many libraries also are planning fun virtual programs in June and July. Please check the  Macaroni Kid Calendar to see their schedule and learn how to sign up for Beanstack.

Prevent the summer learning slide, and help your child be ready for school in the fall, through the Summer Reading Program at your local library.
