16 Ways to Celebrate Mother's Day Weekend in Atlanta (Many are FREE!)

It's Mother's Day Weekend, and whether you choose to enjoy some alone time, or spend it with the family, here's a list of area happenings (and discount offers too!).

2) Enjoy a FREE museum day with the family. The Second Sunday of each month is FREE admission day for the whole family at the High Museum of Art with special family-friendly programming. Info HERE. The Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and High Museum of Art invite you to the fifth annual FREE Toddler Takeover at the Woodruff Arts Center. This one of a kind experience developed for children from birth through 5 years old will feature international theatre for the very young performances from South Korea, UK and Australia, performances of the Kathy and Ken Bernhardt Theatre for the Very Young, infant and toddler tours, art-making at the High Museum of Art, performances with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and much more. 3) Take your Mummy to visit the mummies- FREE admission for the whole family on May 12 from 1PM until closing at the Michael C. Carlos Museum. See largest ancient collections in the Southeast, including artifacts and mummies from ancient Egypt, and artifatcs and art from Greece, Rome, the Near East, and the ancient Americas. 4) Are you a sports-loving mom? We all know Mom is the real MVP. "Moms and Mimosas" is the College Football Hall of Fame's signature Mother's Day event where every mom gets in FREE. While Dad and the kids play, mom gets one complimentary mimosa, manicure and massage. Don't be late! The first 50 Moms in the door will receive a free gift from Stella & Dot!

5) Spend it with the animals (not just your kids!) - Spend it with the animals (not just your kids!). Spend Mother’s Day at Zoo Atlanta with a special offer just for Mom! On Sunday, May 12, mothers enjoy FREE admission with purchase of any regularly-priced child’s or adult’s general admission. Mothers may also enjoy the Zoo free if accompanied by a Zoo Atlanta Member (up to two mothers per Membership). 

6) Compare notes with animal Moms- Get a FREE "Zoo Mom" Tour at the North Georgia Zoo in Cleveland. Take a tour and learn all about being a mom in the animal kingdom. How mom's take care of their young. Learn what it is like to be a surrogate mom to animals at the zoo and meet some of those special animal "moms". Talk with mom's who help at the zoo and share fun stories of being a mom to both the human and animal kind! Is it really that different after all? Moms get in FREE with paid child's admission on Mother's day!

7) Enjoy a FREE Festival-  There are several great festivals around town this weekend with FREE admission for the whole family including the  Chastain Park Spring Arts & Crafts Festival, Dunwoody Arts Festival, Cherokee County Mother's Day Pow-Wow & Indian Festival, Tiny Houses at Atlantic Station and more!

8) Have a whale of a good time-  Georgia Aquarium wants to treat you and your mom to a special 2 for $60* discounted admission on Sunday, May 12, 2019. Tickets must be purchased online in advance and applies to any age group. 9) Chase Alice down the rabbit hole - Atlanta Botanical Gardens - Imaginary Worlds: Alice's Wonderland  A giant White Rabbit towers at more than 27 feet tall as it floats inside an upside-down umbrella in the Skyline Garden pond. On the Skyline lawn is an expansive chess board bordered by nine heart “trees” each more than 12 feet tall, with a giant Cheshire Cat poised nearby. Alice herself is on hand – just elsewhere in the Garden.

10) Tour Beautiful Gardens- Purchase tickets for the Gardens for Connoisseurs Tour showcases Atlanta’s most spectacular private gardens, from tranquil woodland settings to intimate urban spaces. Garden enthusiasts will delight in exploring the creativity and precision of talented landscape architects, garden designers and local gardeners. The Gardens for Connoisseurs Tour takes place on May 11 & 12, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and all proceeds benefit the mission of the Atlanta Botanical Garden.

11) FREE Admission for Mom at the Children's Museum of Atlanta - FREE admission for mom on Mother's Day! At Children’s Museum of Atlanta, we LOVE our mothers! Join us on Sunday, May 12th to celebrate the most important women in our lives with special programming all about moms and grandmothers! On the CMA stage, our Imaginators will lead special themed Story Time and Music & Movement programs! Then, venture to the Art Studio to participate in a “Mom & Me” self portrait workshop or to the Build it Lab to create a homemade gift straight from the heart. 12) Chill out on the Bottomless Mimosa Brunch Cruise - Treat Mom to a special two-hour Bottomless Mimosa Brunch Cruise! Enjoy a delicious brunch while cruising Lake Lanier aboard one of our redesigned excursion yachts. 15) Wind down with FREE Jazz under the stars- The Suwanee Jazz Fest will bring the area's smoothest and most eclectic solo and group jazz artists together for an evening of sounds, tastes, and experiences under the stars. Local eateries, food trucks, and vendors will be jazzing things up with some delish special food, drinks, and cocktails to-go that add to the atmosphere for the perfect night out.
