OTHER CELEBRATIONS AROUND GWINNETT COUNTY:
Downtown Norcross and the Iron Horse Tavern will be hopping with live music and a $15.99 prime rib dinner on New Year's Eve. According to a spokesman, the pub had so much fun with the band Turnstile at the last British car show that they decided to bring them back. Turnstile, a 5-piece based in Atlanta, plays songs from the early 1960's to the present and covers mainly bands from the United Kingdom. Pink Floyd, The Who and The Beatles are just a few. Two of its members hail from Britain. The music will start around 9:30 p.m. and continue until after midnight.
If you're looking for fun for the entire family, start the evening out by supporting the local hockey team, the Gwinnett Gladiators over at the Gwinnett Arena. It's the team's first New Year's celebration there and they've got plenty of fun planned. DecembeRadio will perform, there will be a "unique kids count down to the New Year during the 2nd Intermission" and party favors galore will be awarded as The Gladiators play the Wheeling Nailers. The game starts at 6 p.m.
Lawrenceville Rings will take place for the 7th time on the downtown historic square. This celebration even has an "Early Eve for Kids" from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. This includes: magic and puppet shows, balloon artists, face-painting, children's mask-making, exciting inflatables, a trackless train, a variety of festive snack foods and the first, early eve fireworks display at 6 p.m. From 9 p.m. until midnight, there will be music including a Beatles tribute band and--you guessed it!--more fireworks.
What ever you choose to do, I hope you have a wonderful New Year's Eve and that 2012 is the best year yet!!
