I hope you had a fun, dry 4th of July! I started my day with one of my favorite Atlanta traditions...watching the amazing Peachtree Road Race, which is the largest 10K in the world! My ex-marine nephew, Tommy, was one of the 60,000 people running this year. I love seeing the diversity of the runners. I saw everything from kids to seniors, from hard-core athletes to those who could hardly walk the whole course. I saw a blind lady with a cane, firefighters in full uniform, women in tutus, a pair of newly weds still in their wedding gown & tux, soldiers in camo with loaded backpacks, breast cancer survivors deck out in pink from head to toe, guys in kilts and even a group dressed as "duck dynasty" characters! Trust me, it's worth the trip downtown to see it....your kids will have a blast! It's not just a race, it's a spectacle, an event, a parade and a chance to cheer someone on as they "race for glory" at whatever speed they can manage. For 99% of the participants, it's not about winning, it's about just making it to the finish line and getting the t-shirt to prove it!!
