Think you know the story of the three little pigs? The big, bad wolf came by and intentionally blew their houses down, right? Well maybe not. Now you can hear the other side to this story... the wolf's side.
It was my great delight to be able to take my great-niece, Katie (7), and my great-nephew, Johnny(4), to The Center of Puppetry Arts to find out the truth! In this revealing, no-squealing adaptation of Jon Scieszka’s popular book, Alexander T. Wolf finally has a chance to tell his side of the story.
First, he explains he was just trying to make a chocolate bunny cake for his grandma's birthday, even though he wasn't feeling well because he had a cold. When he discovered that he was out of sugar, he ran next door to borrow some from his neighbor, the little pig who lived in a house of straw.
From there, using his own puppets and a funny song & dance routine, the life-sized Mr. Wolf proceeds to explain what really happened to those houses made of straw, sticks, and bricks and the three little pigs that lived in them. This show is fast-paced and very funny, making it suitable for even young children. And yet, parts of the narrative are clever enough to tickle the funny bones of the adults in the audience. I enjoyed it as much as the kids.
Katie and Johnny loved this show! Johnny said his favorite part was "everything" and Katie liked the funny song that the audience got to sing along with Mr. Wolf.
But, as usual, their very favorite part was visiting the build-a-puppet workshop to make their own Alexander Wolf hand puppet!
Thank you to The Center for Puppetry Arts for providing complimentary tickets to this show for my family. We had a terrific time and think your family will also! But hurry, this is the LAST WEEK! The show closes on Saturday, June 9th.
