CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

By Becky Samford, MK Publisher, Duluth, Norcross, Suwanee, Johns Creek & Peachtree Corners December 4, 2016
One of my family's favorite Christmas activities is to pile in the car with some hot chocolate to ride around and  look at the lights! There are many spectacular displays close to home to view and the best part.... they're free!!

Alpharetta/Johns Creek:
  • Christmas in Castille, 4220 Tivoli Way:  thousands of lights synchronized to music.
  • Hillbrooke Subdivision: 1670 Gladewood Drive, Johns Creek subdivision  is also known to have a lot of festive homes.
  • McMinn house, 595 Flying Scot Way, Alpharetta GA 30005 A 7 foot Ferris Wheel, giant Santa Claus and the grinch along with others.
  • Mint Julep Christmas, 116 N Mountain Brooke Dr.
Cumming:
  • Blink Midwinter, a synchronized light display at 7020 Cole Ct .
  • Night of Lights in Ashebrooke subdivision around 4905 Laurel Ridge Dr.
  • Christmas in Cumming, 4730 Bryn Ridge Court
Dunwoody:
  • The Dunwoody Homeowner’s Association sponsors the “Light Up Dunwoody” competition, and there are several homes on Ashford Dunwoody road who get into the spirit.

Another not-to-be-missed display is the 10th Annual Johns Creek Holiday Lights in along Hospital Parkway in Technology Park where you can enjoy nearly 1 mile and nearly two dozen displays of Holiday Lights. Sponsored by the Johns Creek Owners Association and Emory Johns Creek Hospital, this show is FREE to the public from Thanksgiving through New Year. (Head north on Medlock Bridge Road (Hwy 141) and just before McGinnis Ferry Road, turn left onto Hospital Parkway which runs in front of Emory Johns Creek Hospital.)

FURTHER AWAY, BUT WORTH THE DRIVE:
Decatur:

  • The home located at 1428 Oak Grove Dr., known as Christmas in the Grove, is participating in “The Great Christmas Light Fight,” a new reality TV show on ABC. According to AJC.com, there are also several home displays around the corner at Candler and Memorial Drive.
Stone Mountain:
