IT'S "BOO" SEASON!

By Becky Samford, Duluth, Norcross, Johns Creek & Peachtree Corners Macaroni Kid Publisher October 4, 2015
"BOO-ing" is a fun tradition popular in many neighborhoods throughout the month of October. Your kids will love to "BOO" your neighbors, your friends or your family!

Step 1:

Visit Walmart, Kmart or your local dollar store for supplies. Be as creative as you want with items like:

Small toys like a stretchy skeleton or glow-in-the-dark bat
Glow sticks or glow bracelets
Costume jewelry (plastic rings, necklaces and bracelets)
False teeth
Halloween stickers and pencils
Rub-on or stick-on temporary tattoos
Bookmarks
Crayons
Mini bottles of bubbles
Whistles, jacks, bouncy balls or marbles
Mini Play Doh Pots
Halloween hair bows and barrettes
Candy

Step Two:
Fill two Halloween baskets, or brown bags decorated with markers or stickers, with the toys and treats. Think about the gender and ages of the families you'll be BOO'ing and have fun putting together something that will be enjoyed by everyone.

Step Three:
Copy and paste, then print the following poem and attach it on the outside of each basket or bag. Also print the image below for their front door or window, so they don't get BOO'd again!

You've Been "Boo'd"!

The air is cool, the season Fall,
This Halloween treat is fun for all!

Ghosts and goblins, spooks galore...
Tricky witches at your door.

The spooks are after things to do,
In fact, a spook brought this "BOO" to you!

Print two copies of this sheet,
Then get two bags and fill with treats.

Include a BOO sheet in each gift,
Imagine the spirits you will lift!

Just two short days to work your spell,
Keep it secret, hide it well.

Deliver at dark when there isn't much light,
Ring the doorbell then run out of sight!

Please join the fun, the season is here,
Spread the BOO's and Halloween cheer!

Step Four:
Pick two friends or neighbors and secretly drop your "BOO" on their front step! Don't let them see you!

Step Five:
Savor seeing your kid's delight in giving to others and watch the "BOO's" spread! Have a safe and fun filled Halloween!
