She is a 13 year old middle school teen from Cumming who won the 2011 Young Writers Contest and just had her first book published!  "Messages from the Breathless," is the suspenseful novelette that tells the story of a high school love that doesn't end after death.

Fox Theatre and Hotel Indigo


A great night out combo!!

Dinner downtown followed by a show at the Fox is probably my favorite night out. I'm very fortunate that I get to do it fairly often. There are two or three restaurants that I always choose for dinner, because they are close to the Fox and they have great food. That being said, they are also very crowded and noisy. You absolutely must have a reservation, the service is usually rushed because of the crowd and we usually just give up on any conversation until after dinner.

Thursday, May 31 - Exploring Nature With Your Kids at Fernbank Science Center

Taught by veteran naturalist and ecologist Al Tate, ENWYC focuses on nature in and around the Atlanta area. The class is designed for parents and children to learn together about animals, plants and natural communities they find around their own home and neighborhood.
Bring your found “things”-- feathers, unknown plants, insects, wasp nests, snake skins, millipedes, leaves, unusual fruits, spiders, shells, or other unidentified objects to ENWYC. During each class, we start indoors with show-and-tell to give our children an opportunity to share their excitement with the class. The instructor will identify and comment on these items and then continue with a featured topic or activity.

A judge will speak to each child after taking a photo for judging. Each contestant will have the opportunity to spin the prize wheel to receive a prize just for entering. The 3 winners will receive a $50 gift card to Gymboree, Belk or Macy’s depending on their age group, a photo that will be on display in the mall and much more! June 3, 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the plane crash at Paris' Orly Airport that took the lives of 122 Atlanta arts patrons. This tragedy deeply affected the city and ultimately inspired the founding of The Woodruff Arts Center. The Community Day will commemorate the anniversary and celebrate the impact the Arts Center has had over the last 50 years.

The best reviewed titles are sent to publishers to help them identify which upcoming titles will be the most popular. Moms & Tots Weekly Program for Simon Kidgits Club Returns for Another Fun-Filled Season
Through June 27th, Moms and their adorable tots are invited to beat the summer heat with Simon Kidgits Club at Gwinnett Place. The annual Mom & Tots summer program will kick off each Wednesday in June with fun-filled themed activities that will keep you and your little one smiling all summer. Simon Kidgits Club members and their mommies can partake in songs, stories, games and crafts tailored for tiny tots.

               

 

 
Where: Gwinnett Place,(Upper Level Sears Wing), 2100 Pleasant Hill Rd, Duluth, GA 30096 ( adjacent to Sears and across from Forever 21)
When: 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM (Every Wednesday)
Who: Children (ages 4 and under) and their parents

Cost: Not yet a member of Simon Kidgits Club? Annual fee is $5 per child and includes: entertaining events all year, free goodies at events, spin the prize wheel anytime you visit the mall, Birthday Gift, special offers and discounts, VIP treatment at varios mall events.

Wednesday, June 6 - Peachtree Corners Library- Meet the GA Force

Members of the Georgia Force Football and Cheerleader teams will be on hand for a meet and greet event in honor of the Summer Reading Program.  Join us as we talk about sports and our favorite books! Bring your questions and cameras to this special event.
