The Circus was FANTASTIC!!

Last Thursday night, my family was the guest of Feld Entertainment for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey's newest show, Fully Charged, at Philips Arena. We had a terrific evening and loved the show!!

It all started with the Power Up Party, one hour before the circus started. We were down on the main floor to get an "up close" sample of what was to come. We got to pet some of the horses, meet the clowns and saw some amazing aerial acts. We also watched Anya the elephant paint ...

Oklahoma! is the first musical written by the team of Rodgers & Hammerstein. The musical is set in Oklahoma Territory in 1906 and tells the story of cowboy Curly McLain and his romance with farm girl Laurey Williams. The original Broadway production opened in 1943. It was a box-office smash and ran for an unprecedented 2,212 performances, later enjoying an Academy Award-winning 1955 film adaptation.

Duluth Cadette Troop 1941 of the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta would like to invite everyone to "Celebrating 100 Years of Girl Scouting."   Board the Birdwell Island ferry and take a journey to the world of Clifford, the big red dog. The exhibit offers "paws-on" adventures that reinforce simple life lessons such as: Share, Work Together, Be Responsible, Be Truthful, Be Kind, Believe in Yourself, and Help Others. Based on the book by Calvin Alexander Ramsey, Ruth and the Green Book follows an African American family as they travel from Chicago to Alabama in the Jim Crow South of the 1950s. After being turned away from hotels, gas stations and restaurants, 8-year-old Ruth and her parents are introduced to "The Green Book," a pivotal publication conceived as a response to the humiliation and violence experienced by African Americans while travelling. With this guide, Ruth's family, like many others, learned where they would be welcome. The performance celebrates this great book that helped pave the direction to an America where everyone is welcome.

A young boy named Charlie finds a "golden ticket" admitting him into Willy Wonka's top-secret chocolate factory where he encounters chocolate rivers, inflating blueberries, magic elevators and other delights. Saturday, March 3 - Opening Reception for 4 new Exhibits at Hudgens Art Center

See "Capturing the Spirit of Childhood"by Duluth's own Kathy Fincher.  Considered one of today's leading inspirational artists, and perhaps the most licensed children's painter, Fincher's artwork has been used for prints, books, calendars, cards and journals, and produced in life-like figurines, water globes and, more currently, in Montana Bronze. The Hudgens is the largest display of her original works, and also showcases her twenty years of products. Also, Bloom! by Steve Penley, Blossoms! by North Gwinnett high School, and Buds! by Hudgens young students.

Rabbit Tales is coming to Decatur High School!

The Atlanta Opera is pleased to present an encore presentation of our new family-friendly opera, Rabbit Tales!  Based on the Br’er Rabbit stories by Joel Chandler Harris, this production is a contemporary, light-hearted tale that combines several story lines from Native American, African and Cajun Folklore. Rabbit Tales is written and composed by Atlanta-based artists, and is sure to bring smiles to your faces!
